Javier Marías was a writer, translator, editor and columnist. He studied English in Madrid and translated novels by Hardy, Faulkner and Nabokov and other great writers into Spanish. He became world famous for his own novels which were translated into more than forty languages. The Spanish newspaper El País proclaimed The Infatuations the best novel of 2011.
