Jean-Marc Piret

Jean-Marc Piret studied law and began working as a researcher at the Free University of Brussels in 1983, obtaining his PhD there in 1995. He became Assistant, and later Associate Professor in Philosophy of Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1990. He has been teaching at the Free University in Brussels since 2009. His research focuses on the theory and history of public law, on law and religion, and on religion in the public domain, as well as freedom and safety. In 2009, he published De geschiedenis als slachtbank. Reflexieve modernisering en de wet bij Joseph de Maistre, Marquis de Sade en G.W.F. Hegel.
