Jean Guéhenno

Jean Guéhenno was a literary critic, an essayist and a famous European humanist. He wrote for André Gide’s Nouvelle Revue Française, was editor in chief of the magazine Europe in the thirties, and published in Figaro after 1945. In the Second World War Guéhenno kept a secret diary, which appeared in 1947 as Journal des années noires. Guéhenno was a member of the Académie Française and was awarded various honourable decorations.
