Marilyn McCully taught art history at Princeton from 1974 to 1981. Since 1981, she has been working in London as an independent writer. She has organized various exhibitions all over the world, such as the Picasso in Paris, 1900-1907 exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in 2011. McCully gained international renown as the biographer of Picasso. Among her works are A Picasso Anthology (1982), Picasso Ceramics (2007) and the three-part A Life of Picasso (1991-2007, with John Richardson).
