Richard Holbrooke
Richard Holbrooke was a diplomat. After having been United States Ambassador to Germany from 1993 to 1994, he became Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. In this function, he was the chief architect of the Dayton Peace Accords in 1995, which ended the war in Bosnia. Afterwards, he became a special envoy to President Clinton in Bosnia and Kosovo, US ambassador to the United Nations and advisor to President Obama. He wrote numerous articles and is the author of a book on peace negotiations in Dayton: To End a War (1998).
