Richard Rorty

Richard Rorty is considered the main pragmatist philosopher. He became known through his 1979 book Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature, in which he attacked metaphysics in a Hegelian manner. Among his works are Contingency, Irony and Solidarity (1989), Objectivity, Relativism and Truth (1991) and Philosophy as Cultural Politics (2007). From 1996 until his death in 2007, Rorty was Professor of Comparative Literature at Stanford University.
