Slavoj Žižek

Slavoj Žižek is a Marxist sociologist, philosopher and cultural critic. He gained a PhD in philosophy at the University of Ljubljana and studied psychoanalysis at Vincennes-Saint Denis University in Paris. Žižek became known through his new approach to popular culture, inspired by the work of French twentieth-century psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan. He is currently Professor at the European Graduate School, senior researcher in Sociology in Ljubljana and International Director of Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities at the University of London.
