Stefan Zweig

Stefan Zweig was a Jewish writer, journalist and biographer. He studied philosophy and the history of literature and fled Europe because of the rise of Nazism. Zweig’s most famous work is his autobiographical masterpiece The World of Yesterday. Memories of a European(1944). His life and works incarnate the European spirit, which, like the idea of Europe, came to a tragic end with Zweig’s suicide in Brazil, in 1942.
