Plato translator and political philosopher
Thomas L. Pangle
Thomas L. Pangle is a political philosopher. He has been Joe. R. Long Professor in Democratic Studies at the University of Texas since 2004. Before, he worked at Yale until 1976 and at the University of Toronto. Pangle translated works of Plato and is the author of works such as The Spirit of Modern Republicanism (1988), The Learning of Liberty (1993), Leo Strauss: An Introduction to His Thought and Intellectual Legacy (2006) and The Theological Basis of Liberal Modernity in Montesquieu’s ‘Spirit of the Laws’ (2010).
