Victor Gao
Victor Gao is a lawyer, businessman and academic, and a leading analist of geopolitics. He is currently Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization in Beijing, and Chair Professor at Soochow University. He also chairs the Yale Law School Association of China and the China Energy Security Institute. Gao studied English in China, then Law and International Relations at Yale. During his studies, he served as the English interpreter for Deng Xiaoping and worked for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the United Nations Secretariat in New York. After finishing his studies in 1993, Gao was admitted as lawyer to the bar in New York and became involved in investment banking. He held senior positions at Morgan Stanley among other organisations. Between 1999 and 2000, he served as the China Policy Advisor at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. His extensive experience in government, diplomacy, security, law and business gives him a unique insight in geopolitical issues from a Chinese perspective. Gao is a regular commentator on CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, CGTN and many other major networks.
