Love & Literature

What do we feel when in love? And what if we are taken by a novel? How is love presented in literature? What can books tell us about love? Do we read differently when we are in love? And do we love differently if we have read about it? What could great writers teach us? About butterflies in your stomach, passion and tenderness, but also about love in its forbidden forms, such as incest or adultery? How does reading change the way we observe the world? And what is the mysterious connection between ‘real’ life and literature?

In this masterclass, author Lila Azam Zanganeh seeks the answers to these questions with the audience. She will use the delightful novella First Love (1860), written by the great Russian master of literature Turgenev, as a guide through the labyrinth of love and literature.

Lila Azam Zanganeh tells us with passion and enchanting eloquence about the far ranging effects of literature on life.
