Jean Clair

Jean Clair is the pseudonym of author, curator and art critic Gérard Régnier. He studied philosophy and art history at the Sorbonne and obtained a PhD at Harvard. Clair wrote works on Bonnard and Balthus, and was director of the Musée National Picasso in Paris from 1989 to 2005. In that function, he organized a large number of national and international expositions and in 1995 led the 100th edition of the Venice Biennale. He was made member of the Académie Française in 2008.
