Zygmunt Bauman
Zygmunt Bauman was a sociologist. He was Emeritus Professor in Sociology at the University of Leeds and previously taught at the universities of Warsaw, which he left due to the communist government’s anti-Semitic campaign, and Tel Aviv. He studied the role of utopian ideas and that of intellectuals within society and politics, and wrote about modernity. His best-known books are Modernity and the Holocaust (1989), Liquid Modernity (2002), Liquid Life (2005) and The End of the World (2012).
