Mitchell Cohen
Mitchell Cohen is Professor of Political Theory at the City University of New York. He specializes in the political theory of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and in contemporary European politics. Between 1991 and 2009, he was co-editor (wit Michael Walzer) of the cultural-political journal Dissent, which still frequently publishes his articles. His essays also appeared in The New York Times Book Review, The Times Literary Supplement and Les Temps Modernes. His work The Politics of Opera (2017) received the Prose Award for Music of the Association of American Publishers and was named one of the best books of 2017 in the London Evening Standard. He is currently working on a new book, The Political Passions of Richard Wagner.
