László F. Földényi

László F. Földényi is an intellectual and the quintessential uomo universale, having contributed in many ways to all aspects of intellectual and cultural life. He started his career as a playwright, taught aesthetics, art theory and comparative literature, contributed to dozens of newspapers and cultural magazines and translated several books. He was awarded numerous prizes in culture and literature, being celebrated for his eloquence and rich prose. His impressive oeuvre is the work of a true European humanist, masterfully connecting great themes, histories, myths, ideas, artist’s lives, leaving his reader with multifaceted insights. His Dostoyevsky Reads Hegel in Siberia and Bursts into Tears is a must-read, addressing the tension between transcendence and human reason, freedom and the grounds of civilization.
